“Be messy and complicated and afraid and show up anyway.” — Glennon Doyle.

It’s all too easy to get swept up in the riptides of life and find yourself overwhelmed and depleted. Self-love is going to look different in these times, and the methods for self-care will change along with them. Comforting and endlessly entertaining, I’ve recently turned to podcasts in these moments of hardship.

With over 48 million episodes online, there is inspiring content for everyone. The wellness genre is bursting, and you can find shows from best-selling authors, wellness gurus, holistic healers, therapists, astrologers and more.

Self-Love is an endless journey. It’s about consistently showing up, prioritizing yourself, and making the time for self-care.

The following podcasts are meant to inspire and serve as a conduit for developing self-love, wisdom, and connection.

Hosted by Celeste Viciere, a renowned therapist, mental health advocate, and best-selling author. In her podcast, Celeste interviews guests from all different backgrounds and discusses empowerment, the importance of mindset and breaking free from negative cycles.

“She is frequently quoted by the media as a mental health expert, including The Washington Post, NBC News, VICE, Healthline, Bustle, and has appeared on TV One and Fox Soul TV. Celeste has been in the mental health field for almost 20 years and believes in the power of living a conscious life. She has dedicated her personal and professional endeavors to breaking the stigma surrounding mental and emotional health, especially in communities of color.”

Hosted by Lacy Phillips, the founder of To Be Magnetic. The podcast is based on Neural Manifestation™, TBM’s unique process that’s rooted in neuroscience, psychology, epigenetics, and energetics. The focus is on the science and psychology behind manifestation.

“Our goal is to normalize the practice of manifestation and empower you to get into the driver’s seat of your life in order to manifest the experiences, relationships, and things that most align with your authenticity. Covering everything from inner child healing and shadow work, to boundaries, how to reprogram your subconscious mind, clarity, and manifesting dreams, the listener is starting the process of “expanding” your subconscious in order to believe anything you desire is possible.”

Hosted by best-selling author and wellness personality Sahara Rose (a personal favorite of mine!). Sahara dishes out advice on aligning with your dharma and living a life of truth and purpose. There are shorter episodes which feel like you're having a quick inspirational chat with your best friend (who also happens to be a spiritual guru) and longer episodes where you get to be the fly on the wall when incredible conversations go down between world renown wellness experts. Listen to this podcast and blossom into your highest self.

“I believe the spiritual journey is meant to be FUN and that you can only be in your highest service when you are in your highest joy. You were born with a sacred purpose on this planet and I’m here to remind you of what that is. I’m here to show you how to find your purpose so you can blossom into your highest self and embody your fullest expression on the planet.”

Hosted by Glennon Doyle, activist, speaker, thought leader, best selling author, and the founder and president of Together Rising, an all-women led nonprofit organization that has revolutionized grassroots philanthropy.

The podcast is based on the simple phrase, “We can do hard things”, from her most recently published book Untamed. Glennon writes that, “On We Can Do Hard Things, my sister Amanda and I will do the only thing I’ve found that has ever made life easier: We will drop the fake and talk honestly about the hard. Each week we will bring our hard to you and we will ask you to bring your hard to us and we will do what we were all meant to do down here: Help each other carry the hard so we can all live a little bit lighter and braver, more free and less alone.”

Dropping Gems is hosted by Devi Brown who currently serves as the Chief Impact Officer at Chopra Global, is the voice of daily meditation on the Chopra Wellness app, and is a board member for the Mental Wealth Alliance. She is also a public speaker, Reiki energy healer, primordial sound meditation teacher, spiritual psychology practitioner, best-selling author, and wellness educator. Impressed?

She refers to her podcast as, “A soft place to land where higher consciousness meets your everyday life. Nourish your spirit, grace new tools for the journey and fall deeply in love with the highest version of who you are.”

Hosted by Elizabeth Day, an award-winning author, journalist and broadcaster. Reframing failure, How to Fail is a chart-topping podcast that won the Rising Star Award at the 2019 British Podcast Awards. Episodes are released weekly which contain interviews with prominent and notable figures; exploring their failures, what failure can teach us and how we can better succeed.

Hosted by Alex Elle, the author of multiple books and journals, most recently After the Rain and the guided journal, In Courage.

Hey, girl. is a podcast “that unites the voices of phenomenal women near and far”, representing sisterhood, storytelling, & self-care.

Each week, Alex chats with those who’ve inspired her in 20 minute or less episodes. Her mission is, “to build community & self-care practices through literature & language.” Alex hosts quarterly workshops and retreats centered around assisting others in finding their voices through storytelling rooted in truth without shame.

Radically Loved is hosted by Rosie Acosta, an Inspirational Speaker, Yoga & Meditation Teacher, Yoga Teacher Trainer, Holistic Health Coach, and founder of Radically Loved: Yoga, Health + Wellness. She believes in helping others to find their unique gifts and aims to create practices and connect with people in a way that will help everyone live radically loved lives together.

“In a world where we are bombarded with information and overwhelming stress, we have forgotten what it’s like to truly connect to ourselves. In RLR, we discuss different ways of achieving the mind/body/spirit connection, navigating through life’s challenges and finding the support you need to achieve your highest potential and live a radically loved life.”

Hosted by former monk, bestselling author, and purpose coach Jay Shetty. In 2016, he took the world by storm with his YouTube channel and viral videos on wisdom, and was named in the Forbes 30 Under 30 Class of 2017.

The purpose of his podcast is to make wisdom go viral. Listen in as he either explores what it means to be alive or has incredible conversations with “the most insightful people in the world”. New episodes are released on Mondays and Fridays.

Unlocking Us is hosted by Brené Brown, world famous vulnerability researcher and #1 New York Times best-selling author. She has published five books thus far and is currently finishing her sixth. Her TED talk is one of the top-five most viewed talks and she is the first researcher to have a filmed lecture on Netflix. The wisdom she has unearthed through her studies has touched the hearts of millions and listening to her speak hits all the right chords.

In her podcast, “she unpacks and explores the ideas, stories, experiences, books, films, and music that reflect the universal experiences of being human, from the bravest moments to the most brokenhearted.”

“I’ve spent over 20 years studying the emotions and experiences that bring meaning and purpose to our lives, and if there’s one thing I’ve learned it’s this: We’re hardwired for connection, and connecting requires courage, vulnerability, and conversation. I want to to be a podcast that’s real, unpolished, honest, and reflects both the magic and the messiness of what it means to be human.”
